Respond to comments on your books

Hello lovelies,

Today we're going to be focusing on why it is important to respond to comments on your books. This is another key technique that can be used to help you gain readers and followers on both Inkitt and Wattpad. When you respond to comments on your book you engage with multiple readers, show the readers that you are interesting in their opinions, you can provide insight on the part of the book they commented on and also gain different ideas from the readers.

When someone leaves a comment on your book anyone can reply to that comment. What makes this even more interesting is that you have the ability to create an entire conversation from that single comment. For example, someone commented on my book and I responded to it, persons noticed that it was the author that responded and started to reply also leaving a chain of messages that resulted from one post. This will boost your popularity as an author and gain you more readers. 

I make it a point to reply to as many comments on my book as I possibly can. I appreciate the fact that they are not just readers of my book but they're people who took time out of their life to read my book and comment their thoughts. I also try my very best to answer every question I come across, especially when it seems like the person is confused or not completely sure about what happened. Its good to provide insight on what's happening in the book so the readers won't be clueless and they'll come back for more.

Sometimes when uploading you might not be completely happy with a chapter or you might like the way it is but feel as if something is different or you don't know how to move from there. This is the time where you should be most focused on your comments section. More than likely readers are commenting what they would have liked to see happen, things they didn't expect and ideas for future chapters. This is a great way to consider what your readers want but adding your own twist to it.

And there you have it. The reasons why responding to comments on your book is so important and how it could gain you more readers.

Respond to posts on your profile

Hello my lovelies, in this post we're going to be tackling another technique I used to grow as an online writer on Wattpad. Today we're going to talk about why it is important to respond to posts that are made on your profile. For all who don't know this there is a section on your Wattpad profile that says conversations, that is were your friends, family and readers can leave a public comment. 

You might wonder why doesn't the person just send you a private message. Though effective you have to remember that you don't know them and they don't know you. Your practically strangers, so they would feel more nervous contacting you personally than just making a post that everyone can see. Also Wattpad has no read receipts so you can never really tell when someone has read your private message. The same applies for posts on your profile you can't tell when the reader reads them but more than likely they will see it. For example, whenever I visit Wattpad the first thing I do is to check my profile, mostly to monitor the progress of my books but also to quickly scan through the messages on my profile.  

As I've mentioned before you don't know each other which is why it is important to respond to as many of the messages as you can. This is to help build a relationship between you and the reader, so he/she feels as if your more than just strangers. Sometimes when I respond persons are very surprised and also thrilled that I took the time to talk to them and it keeps them coming back for more. This also helps to unite persons who visit your profile. For example, there are times when I comment on a message left by a reader and a completely different reader ends up joining in on the conversation. 

As a Jamaican author I can tell you that it is amazing an rewarding to be interactive on your profile. No one likes a stuck up or mean person.

An Inviting Profile

Hi Lovelies, today we're going to talk about how to have an inviting profile.

The first thing you should do when you upload your story is to ensure

 that you have an inviting profile.

This means that you should ensure that whenever a person comes 

across your profile they are interested by the overall image you portray.

 From the profile picture to the cover picture, to how you treat persons who 

message you publicly and how you display your books.

 This may not seem like something that will help you gain reads but it all adds up in the end.

 When I first started writing I didn't pay much attention to how my profile looked to others, that was a mistake. After about a month of uploading I noticed that I wasn't getting as much views on my book as I would have liked. I started to get frustrated because in my head my content was pretty good so I should be getting the reads I want. That's when I started to do my research. I began to browse the profiles of other writers on Wattpad who were doing quite well. Two of these persons were Neilani Alejandrino also known as sweetdreamer33 and Camille also known as sweetblunch. Their profiles were organized, they had a distinctive profile picture that I could recognize anywhere and their book covers were beautiful.

 When I say their profiles were organised what I mean is that the about me section is aesthetically pleasing, all their stories were inserted into the order in which they were written and/or where they fall within a series. They both had one set profile picture, for example if I ever forgot the name of sweetblunch I knew all I had to do was type in the name of one of her books and look for the distinctive profile picture that I knew so well. One think I loved was how their book covers always looked like it was professionally done. My book was definitely lacking that. After I identified these three things I started to do things differently on my own profile and that's when the reads started coming in and I couldn't be happier. My most popular book received 2.8 million reads and I now have over 6,000 followers on Wattpad. So I encourage you to try these it won't cost you anything.

Hi lovelies

So in this post I will be establishing key techniques that you can follow to become your very own wattpad star. For now I will just list them as in my upcoming posts I will be going in depth on each technique. So these techniques include:

1. Make your profile inviting. 

2. Respond to posts on your profile.

3. Respond to comments on your book(s).

4. Keep on reading. 

5. Follow other wattpadians.

6. Advertise on the internet. 

7. Be interactive.

8. Be consistent. 

9. Have a good story line or plot.

10. Ensure your story is neither too long it too short. 

Those are the ten techniques that I follow to ensure persons read my books.

First Steps

When I was 15 years old I made the independent decision to join an app called wattpad, a place where you could read and write books for free. I've always loved writing- whether it be poems, short stories or the plot of a novel.

 By joining wattpad I found a place where I could explore by reading various books and by realising that this might be the platform I needed to share with not only my thoughts but the world the stories whirling in my brain. I began to put my inner thoughts on paper and created stories out of them. What I am basically saying is that opportunities may come in the most unexpected ways but it is still an opportunity to succeed.

Hello!

My name is Ruth Stevens and this is my first ever blog post. Let me first say that I am so excited to be writing this even though I'm not quite sure what my first official post will be about. I titled this post "introduction" as I am basically introducing myself to you all. I am a 19 year old Jamaican who loves to read and write books on wattpad. I have made a name for myself on wattpad and in my upcoming post I will be providing advice on how to reach a million views and tips on how to sell you story while having an entertaining library. I also hope to provide you all with daily quotes that I hope will have a impact on your lives. My friends say that I give the best advice and so I want to share my supposed wisdom with people around the world. My main intention with this blog is to let you know that you are not alone and there are persons who can help you through the struggle we call life. I look forward to reading your comments.
